Carl is a board-certified Physician Assistant who received his master’s degree from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences University. Carl’s work in medicine has always been driven by his desire to provide patients with the highest level of care possible. He is uncompromising in his desire to help his patients become their best selves. Prior to working with Dr. Husted, Carl spent time working in the field of neurology, where he worked closely with individuals with a wide range of neurological diagnoses, including depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and sleep difficulties.
Carl’s Philosophy of Care
Beginning from his time in studying medicine, Carl Brescia has been helping patients to truly “live their best life”, helping them to overcome typical life challenges we all face, and to get through the various difficult life events which are caused or exasperated by neurological conditions. Mentored by a compassionate doctor who would provide after-hours support to patients, Carl found his passion and realized the significant psychological impact he could have on his patients as they worked to overcome physical challenges and manage daily struggles with anxiety and depression. As he developed stronger relationships with his patients and saw the profound effect he had on their mental health, Carl became committed to a career in psychiatry.
Carl’s Approach to Treating Patients
Carl’s caring approach has allowed him to offer help to many patients who felt anxious and depressed, leading to positive patient outcomes that allowed them to lead more fulfilling lives. While he was working in neurology, Carl was able to help many struggling patients to deal with issues such as anxiety, depression, and other health issues. While watching his neurological patients feel better and thrive, Carl was inspired and motivated to want to direct his medical career toward psychiatry which would allow him to connect with his patients on a deeper level in their journey to achieve their best lives. Carl has a background in Division 2 athletics and his experiences in sports made him familiar with the psychology of winning.
In addition to working with physically challenged patients in neurology, one of Carl’s strengths is to help people overcome mental and physical limitations and to learn how to win despite the difficult circumstances life can unfairly impose on people. He also has helped many patients under immense stress at home and work with coping and how to find ways to excel or consistently function well in challenging situations, including student-athletes and others who need to perform. Carl is looking forward to helping all patients become empowered by their mental health.
