Individual Psychotherapy
What is Individual Psychotherapy?
Individual therapy is carried out by a trained psychiatrist or therapist who meets one-on-one with a patient. The goals of individual counseling can range from reducing pain, healing emotional damage, or learning coping strategies to help a person better navigate and handle the unique daily challenges that life presents to each one of us. Most individual therapy is conducted on a regular and ongoing basis, typically one time per week (or month), and the sessions last about 45 minutes.
How Individual Counseling Sessions Help
As humans, we tend to try to avoid painful thoughts and thinking. But distress, anxiety, sadness, anger, pain, and other “bad” feelings occur for a reason. We don’t think that experiencing pain means that there is anything wrong with you. Stedfast Psychiatry provides a safe space for our patients, who we work with to foster a safe space to help each patient understand why they are experiencing these feelings and teaches patients how to better handle these emotions.

Therapy Skills
Clients develop skills and learn to use tools that enable them to function independently and at higher levels. These changes allow our patients to not only reduce or eliminate current suffering, but to more effectively manage new challenges. Many clients are surprised at their new-found ability to easily handle situations that they once dreaded and their ability to embark into areas that once terrified them.
